Fall Sports Awards

Frank GeorgeChristian SanchezNumerous athletic accolades were announced at the Hughson High School Fall Sports Awards ----event, held at ---- Nov. 17. Many received a Hughson High scholar athlete award because they attained a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
“When you view the list there are over 60 students listed,” noted Jim Schuller, athletic director, “Quite impressive when you consider there were only about 190 athletes participating in fall sports.”
That means nearly a third of the Husky athletes “did an amazing job of not only competing but also excelling in the classroom,” according to Schuller.
Doing an amazing job on the boys’ varsity cross country team was MVP Keaton Crowder, MIP Tommy Tomlinson and Sportsmanship award winner Ismael Felix. The girls’ varsity harriers were paced by MVP Tasha Spears, Keaton CrowderMIP Becky Hobby and Sportsmanship designee Kaitlyn Daugherty.
Kelsey Williamson walked away with the Varsity Sportsmanship award in volleyball, while the varsity soccer sportsmanship honorees are Janick Schulz and Cristian Sanchez.
Hailey Schenewark took the girls’ golf Sportsmanship recognition and the junior varsities and freshmen honored Lyndsie Russell and Brooke Jensen respectively with the Sportsmanship accolade, while
JV soccer Sportsmanship titles went to Andre Montez and
Jesus Ramos.
All sports met on November the 17th except football. Due to scheduling conflicts, football will be doing an awards banquet next month, according to Schuller.
“Several students also received the TVL scholar athlete award,” Schuller added. “This is given by the TVL to student athletes that attain a GPA of 3.5 or higher.”
